Pending Approval at June 17 Board Meeting -

MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
Citizens Information Center
Chermont
July 15


The regular meeting of the Citizens Information Center of Chermont was called to order on Tuesday, July 15th, at 5:30 p.m., at the Graser Community Center, James Reynolds, presiding.

Members Present: James Reynolds, Sharon Johnson, Diane Warne, Brad Schooler, Rick George, and
Mike Drew.

Members Absent: Ruby Virgil.

Others Present: Katherine Lee, Mike Berg; Jan Varghese, Kenneth Tester and Stephanie Jones.

The Board began with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion by Rick George, seconded by Diane Warne, to approve the Minutes of June 17, Regular Meeting.
Motion carried.

Motion by Brad Schooler, seconded by Mike Drew, to approve the Agenda. Motion carried.

Katherine Lee, presided over the election of the Board Chair. Motion made by Sharon Johnson to nominate Mike Drew as Chair, seconded by Brad Schooler. Motion carried.

Motion made by Mike Drew, seconded by Brad Schooler, to nominate the current officers for the year.
Motion carried.

Motion made by Rick George, seconded by Sharon Johnson, to maintain the current salary of $3,600/year. Motion carried.

The Board held a discussion regarding the current fee structure for attending some of the events scheduled for the town people. They discussed concerns members have observed or heard about related to the fee structure. Both board members and administration noted that they have received many complaints about the fee structure. Katherine Lee noted that one suggestion is to stop charging $3 for children attending these events. Mike Drew also noted that we should consider reducing these fees. Discussion also centered on clarifying obligatory activities vs. choice-based activities. The discussion continued on the pros and cons of charging admission fees. The Board verbally agreed to discuss more on this topic after gathering more information and possibly discuss this at the Board workshop on Monday, August 18.

There being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made by Mike Drew, seconded by Brad Schooler. Motion carried.
